“ThinkVantage Access Connections” and Work Internet?

Quick question for someone in corporate IT that knows:

The company I work for has a no personal e-mail policy. When I’m connected to their network (which I’m guessing is when my ethernet cord is plugged into my laptop and I’m able to access the public drives) I do not use personal e-mail.

But, is it safe to say that when I connect to a remote host (I get a signal from different places depending on where I am) using my wireless “ThinkVantage Access” that on my laptop, I assume I can safely check Gmail/yahoo, shop on the internet, check sports scores, etc, without that being monitored?

Can someone who knows answer that for me?

It will not be monitored at the time but if it is a company machine that you are using they have a right to be able to check your internet history and could find out that way that you used the company machine to check email.
