Job change/Job headhunter?
I have been at the some company doing PR for the last 8 years, doing the corporate thing in a software firm. I think I want a change. I want to do *something* for the world, not just corporate software. I’d like to investigate the “green” job market and see if there are PR/marketing opportunities at either for profit companies that have a green bent, or not for profit alliances that are focused on clean energy, curbing global warming, preserving clean air/water that kind of thing. It’s been so long since i looked for a job. What’s the best route when you’re going “outside” your normal field (always been in high tech)? A job hunter? how do they work? just scour online (Monster.com?)

Join some PR / Marketing professional societies, and start attending local meetings. Talk to people!
Get some local business newspapers / magazines, look at the articles about companies, see who’s being quoted. These articles are likely to have contact information for the subject companies, too.
Lots of ways to network into marketing and PR organizations.
